Study shows newborn screening for deafness helps teenage reading

Screening newborns for deafness is increasingly linked to better language skill development.  This long-term study from England confirmed that when deafness is detected in newborns, children develop reading skills that are substantial better, even through age 17.  Our experienced staff at Nine East Network serve as parent advisers for deaf or hard of hearing infants, and we also consult with school districts and educators of school-aged children with hearing loss, supporting their development every step of the way.
