Update from the Vermont Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Advisory Council’s January Meeting
The Vermont Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Advisory Council held its third meeting on January 7, 2016.
Council Members in attendance at this month’s meeting were: Deb Charlea Baker, Missy Boothroyd, Keri Darling, Ralph Gallo, Linda Hazard (Chair), Sharon Henry, Bill Hudson (Co-Chair), Monica Hutt, Susan Kimmerly, Mark Limoges, Cindy Moran, Elena Shapiro, Stuart Soboleski, Sherry Sousa, AJ Van Tassel, Judy Vreeland, and Amy Williamson. Attending as guests were David Krueger and Laura Siegel. Also, once again, Cory Brunner and Virginia Clark served as interpreters and Patricia Thompson kept meeting minutes.
The four sub-committee chairs each presented reports of the work of their respective subcommittees.
- Amy Williamson, Chair of the Birth to Three Subcommittee, presented a Report of the issues this group has been looking at. The other members of this subcommittee are: Becky Chalmer, Ralph Gallo, Linda Hazard, Danielle Howes, Blair Rasmus, Camilla Strauss, and Judy Vreeland.
- Stuart Soboleski, Chair of the School Age Subcommittee, presented a report of the issues and services this group has reviewed. The other members of the School Age Subcommittee are: Sharon Henry, Susan Kimmerly, Mark Limoges, Cindy Moran, and Sherry Sousa.
- Elena Shapiro, Chair of Adult Services Subcommittee, presented a Report of the work of her subcommittee. Additional members of this subcommittee are: Missy Boothroyd, Kathleen Brown, Stephanie Cramer, Keri Darling, Bill Hudson, and Kevin Richmond.
- Deb Charlea Baker, Chair of Seniors Subcommittee, presented this extensive report entitled Programs and Organizational Supports for Seniors. This subcommittee also includes the following members: Monica Hutt, Dan Norris, Spenser Weppler, and AJ VanTassel.
In addition to these reports, the Council members also discussed the Council’s intention.
Finally, the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Advisory Council agreed that Linda Hazard and Bill Hudson will provide legislative testimony on S.66. They also discussed the outline of the legislative report which will be completed next week.
