About Us

Nine East Network, formerly known as Vermont Consultants for Language and Learning, is a company with familiar Vermont faces in the fields of speech, language, special education, individual student program development and interagency services. The agency currently has eighteen employees and several affiliates.

The organization was founded by the Director, Susan Kimmerly, who combined the interests, skills, and passions of two additional people (over 100 years of experience) to offer services to schools and human-service agencies. The Director brings work experience in schools, home health, and private practice as a speech-language pathologist (SLP), as well as experience in state government as the State Consultant for Speech, Language, and Hearing and other management jobs in special education, child protection, and juvenile justice. Finally, as an independent consultant for three years, she identified many needs facing speech-language pathologists, school districts, and private agencies trying to offer speech and language services.

Nine East Network was incorporated in July 2003 to provide speech and language services. It serves many purposes and fills a variety of gaps in Vermont’s service needs to children and families.

Shortly after we became a Title 1 service provider to the Bennington School and Camp E-Wen-Akee.

In 2005, our sister agency, The New School of Montpelier, was launched. In 2009 Nine East Network began providing individualized programs for students in their home schools or in community settings, as they prepare for life as young adults.

Let Nine East Network connect you with the services you need.
