RIT/NTID Announces Summer Camps for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students

Each summer, the Rochester Institute for Technology offers opportunities for students who are deaf and hard of hearing to attend summer camp at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID).


This year there are three main offerings available to middle school and high school students to attend these camps – Techgirlz/Techboyz, Explore Your Future, and Health Care Careers Exploration Camp.


These overnight camps are held in Rochester, New York throughout the month of July.



Techgirlz and Techboyz Camps at NTID


These camps are concurrent programs for boys and girls entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grades. They are intended for kids who are interested in careers in science, technology, engineering and math.


Campers will use RIT’s state-of-the-art technology for fun projects, such as creating a high-tech gadget to take home, be a commander on an exciting mission to Mars, conduct experiments in the laboratory, and more.


Techgirlz and Techboyz Camps run from July 22 to July 27, 2017.

E.Y.F. – Explore Your Future at NTID


This NTID camp is open to high school sophomores and juniors. Explore Your Future is a six-day career awareness program.


Students will experience college life, enjoy hands-on activities, and get a taste of real world careers in the fields of business, computing, engineering, health sciences, science and art.


There are two sessions of this camp offered this summer. Session I runs July 8-13, 2017, and Session II runs July 15-20, 2017.

Health Care Careers Exploration Camp at NTID


This camp is suited for students entering grades 10, 11, and 12, who are interested in careers in health care.

Campers will have a opportunity to learn about different careers in the health care field. Activities include field trips to medical facilities in the area, getting certified in CPR, and participating in hands-on demonstrations in biology, exercise science, laboratory science, microbiology, nursing, and nutrition.


The Health Care Careers Exploration Camp runs July 22-27, 2017. The deadline to apply to this camp is May 15, 2017.
