Update on the Vermont D/HH/DB Advisory Council
The Vermont Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Advisory Council held its first officially delegated meeting on September 13, 2016.
Informally, members of the Advisory Council have been meeting since October of 2015. The informal body played an important role in helping to pass S.66, which went into effect in July 2016.

Some of the members above are on the Council by virtue of their positions, as designated by statute. Others are awaiting official appointment by the Governor, which are in process.
The Advisory Council agreed that Linda Hazard should continue to serve as Chair and Bill Hudson would continue as Vice Chair. Their responsibilities are to oversee the council, identify what is needed, and coordinate administrative staff.
Members provided updates about the work of the four age-based committees, who are tasked with identifying services, gaps, and opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing Vermonters:
- Age Birth to Three
- School Age – 4-22
The next meeting of the Advisory Council is set for November 15, 2016.
